About the number line
Set the range, then drag markers onto the line and add jumps while the class watches. It runs in the browser on any interactive whiteboard or classroom display, and there is nothing to log in to.
Start at 0 to 10 for early counting. One tap takes you to 0 to 100 for place value, or below zero when negative numbers come up in Year 4 and 5. You can also work in tenths for decimals, or label the line in fractions.
Jumps show what a calculation looks like. Drag either end to change the size of the jump and the label follows, so you can turn an add 2 into an add 5 without moving where it starts.
How to use it on your whiteboard
- 1Pick a range. The presets cover 0 to 10, 0 to 20, 0 to 100 and negatives, and More has decimals, fractions and a custom range.
- 2Tap the line to drop a marker. Drag it to move it and it snaps to the nearest interval.
- 3Tap Jump to add one, then drag either end to set where it starts and finishes.
- 4Tap Fullscreen to fill the board.
- 5Undo steps back one action at a time, and a whole drag counts as one action. Reset puts the line back to how it started.
Questions
- Can I show negative numbers?
- Yes. Choose the negative range, or set your own start below zero. Zero is marked more strongly than the other numbers so it is easy to point to.
- Can I use decimals or fractions?
- Yes. There is a 0 to 1 line in tenths for decimals, and a 0 to 1 line labelled in fractions. Custom intervals are under More.
- Do I need an account?
